Mayor Garde Welcomes WHO Support for Tobacco-Free Initiatives
In support to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, National Professional Officer of Tobacco Free Initiative of World Health Organization Mr. Florante Trinidad, MD, PhD, MPH, assisted by personnel members from Provincial Health Office, PDOHO, and Municipal Health Office, paid a courtesy visit to the LCE’s office to collaborate in an initiative addressing the diseases and death brought about by tobacco use in the locality. He emphasized that the creation or development of ordinances compliant with the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC)is a step in addressing such issues.
Mayor Januario S. Garde with SB Chair on Health and Sanitation Ms. Ellarne B. Turingan looks forward to the amendment of the existing local ordinance in tobacco aligning with the criteria of FCTC.
