Luna Assesses Tricycles for E-Trike Conversion

Tourism Operations Officer II Mr. Terence R. Grande, together with Engr. Michael Orpilla of CSU and Mr. Mark Anthony Denus and Arlan Jay Agustin of DOST-Apayao, spearheaded a preliminary assessment of six tricycles from the Luna Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (LTODA) for conversion into electric tricycles.
The activity forms part of the Smart Mobility for Viable, Efficient and Cleaner Mode of Transportation for Apayao (SMART MOVE Apayao) project, a collaborative effort of DOST-Apayao, Apayao State College, the Provincial Government of Apayao, and the Municipal Governments of Luna and Sta. Marcela.
The initiative aims to introduce electric mobility as a cleaner, cheaper, and more sustainable mode of transport.
Once converted, the “C-trikes” will serve routes leading to Luna’s tourist destinations, offering visitors more convenient and eco-friendly travel options while protecting the environment and boosting tourism. By reducing emissions and lowering operating costs, the electric tricycles are expected to benefit both the community, especially drivers and the environment.
