Luna, Apayao – The Municipality of Luna, Apayao vies for the Presidential Award for Child Friendly Municipalities and Cities (PACFMC) and is now undergoing on-site validation and document reviews by the National Council for the welfare of Children team. The validation runs from October 6 to 10 in four barangays – Bacsay, Qurino, Lappa, and San Sebastian. As of writing, the team is in Barangay Bacsay to assess how the core rights of children are being implemented.

Of the total 1,642 municipalities and cities nationwide, the municipality was among the 20 shortlisted at the Regional level – then nominated at the national level after it secured perfect score for the Child-friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) 2024. Mayor Januario S. Garde, in his talk, lauded the unified efforts of the offices involved and attributed the accomplishment to the previous administration. MLGOO Joan-Ana Dumalsin highlighted that this is the first time for Luna to represent region CAR in said prestigious award under the 1st to 3rd class municipal category.
